Of all of God’s creation, the most intelligent is mankind. Mankind’s intellectuals of wisdom has been known and a force to reckon with. Despite the breakthrough that man has achieved, even with its technological prowess, man is yet to over over and dominate over four things:

  • Sin –For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
  • Death –And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
  • Grave –… for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return
  • Hell – And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire

However, Jesus Christ is the only one to have overcome all these. Even despite the efforts and attempts by the religious leaders, in connivance with the government and even the guards, yet they could not use it to hold him captive from resurrection.

Hence, death could not hold Jesus Christ captive because:

  • There is power in Jesus Christ John 10: 17-18
  • Jesus lived a sin-free live
  • He has done a redeeming work
  • The father’s promises were sure
  • He will not be abandoned by God ( the trinity has to be complete)

The relevance of His resurrection can thus be summed as:

  1. The same power that raised Christ from death is in every believer
  2. It implies every believer shall also be raised with Him on the Last Day
  3. That every believer is expected to spread the good news
  4. The power of resurrection empowers us for signs and wonders
